We all know that weddings take a lot of planning, but did you know that engagement portraits require a lot of work too?  I think one expectation that couples don't have for e-sessions is the planning that goes behind it.

"Do you ever get tired of weddings?" is a question that we often get asked.  Are you kidding me?  No... We have lost count, but since our business has begun, we have shot around 300 weddings now, and we have cried at every single one at one point of the wedding or another.

When did Spring ever begin at the end of April in Georgia?  We all know that we've been experiencing unusual weather this year, but it's slowly, but surely becoming Hotlanta again!  I didn't ever think that I would miss the heat, but I guess I've become a true Southerner, and that heat is feeling good.

The older I get, the more I realize how small our world is.  Until we met Michele + Jung, we didn't know that we had so many mutual friends!  It's neat how much closer you feel to that person when you have something in common - they call that a "me too" moment, and it literally makes you feel more comfortable with that person.

So, before engagement shoots, one of the things that Craig gets to do with our couples is meet them in person at the consultation meeting and really get to know one another.  One of the things I get to do is plan the engagement shoot with them.  The most fun part of that is discussing their outfit choices!  So, I texted Melvin to see what they had so far, and he said, "I'm wearing 1800 colonial american clothes.. and tori is wearing the swim suit from borat." (exact words).

It’s interesting how laughter is contagious... have you ever felt frustrated or just wasn’t in a good mood, but you hear someone laugh over and over and you can’t help but laugh or at least smile?  It makes you realize that whatever you’re going through isn’t as bad as it seems. I’m blessed to have a husband who brings so much laughter into my life and our home.

Stories are what makes each one of us unique because we all have a story that's none like anyone else's.  When Craig met Tawny + Neil for their wedding consultation, they shared Neil's love for trains.  As soon as Craig heard, he knew that the Duluth Train Museum would be the most perfect place for their engagement session.

As I'm writing this, I'm in a state of shock that it's already March.  Aren't you?  I know everyone says it all the time, but one thing that I can't keep thinking about lately is how fast life is flying by.   Our youngest turned 5, and I'm in denial of that... How can that be?    There's never been such an urgency in my heart to really not waste time, but ironically, I've been realizing that 'slowing down' is what makes us appreciate time more and spend it with quality especially with those whom we adore.

When people feel comfortable, they act differently.  It's no wonder that for the majority of us, when we are at home, we are comfortable... therefore, we tend to (or not) do things that we won't usually do in public.  Well, as professional photographers, one of our jobs is to make our clients feel "at home" and comfortable with us and in front of the camera.

I love it when couples choose their engagement portraits location because it means something to them.  Diana asked for a waterfall, but I just thought that that's simply what she wanted.  But on the day of the shoot, as we were walking through the VERY muddy path to get to this waterfall, we learned that Diana LOVES waterfalls.
